Around the NFL: Jahmyr Gibbs

After poking and adjusting the numbers, I decided to make Jahmyr Gibbs the No. 4 running back on my board (for PPR scoring, anyway). I think he’s the safest choice. And I think he’s looking a little safer today after comments made by the team’s GM, Brad Holmes.  more »

Factoid: The Hot Finishers in 2023

We tend to get swept up by the guys who start the season with big numbers. It's not hard to understand why: The season is new, yesteryear is quickly becoming a distant memory, and guys like Puka Nacua, Raheem Mostert and Sam LaPorta are rocketing fantasy teams to the top of the standings.  more »

Around the NFL: Marquez Valdes-Scantling

The Bills signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling yesterday, which means it's time for my annual post expressing bafflement as to how this guy keeps getting new contracts. Seldom has there been a wide receiver to do less while continuing to see opportunities in favorable situations, year after year.   more »

Factoid: Rookie receivers

With Puka Nacua and Amon-Ra St. Brown having had big rookie seasons in recent years, I’m guessing there will be more willingness in fantasy drafts to use some picks on lightly regarded receivers. One need not be a first-round pick to thrive right away at the position.  more »

Factoid: Bobby Wagner

Working on the IDP projections for the magazine, I struggle with ranking Bobby Wagner. On the one hand, he has a foot in the grave in NFL player terms. But on the other, he just keeps producing, defying all odds of what's capable from older guys.   more »

Factoid: Breece Hall

Breece Hall caught 76 passes last year. That was the most of any running back. But I think there will be a big decline in that area of his game.   more »

Around the NFL: Older wide receivers

The Dolphins signed Odell Beckham last week. The 31-year-old was just one of several older wideouts to catch on with teams. Allen Robinson (30) signed with the Giants, and 29-year-old Zay Jones signed with the Cardinals. Will these veterans be making an impact?   more »

Factoid: Deebo Samuel

There were reports around the time of the draft that the 49ers might be willing to part with Deebo Samuel. While no deal was ever agreed to, I imagine they were sifting through plenty of offers.   more »

Factoid: Ray Davis

One rookie running back I feel pretty good about coming into some value this year is Buffalo fourth-rounder Ray Davis. I think he brings something to the roster that they don't otherwise have. At least based on last year, there should be an opportunity for him to help them out.   more »

Factoid: Running QBs

I’m always torn on running quarterbacks. On the one hand, it’s a great way to add statistical value. But at the same time, it makes it seem like it’s only a matter of time before a season-altering injury will occur.  more »

Around the NFL: Running back carousel

We know NFL teams view running backs as disposable, easily replaceable commodities. The point is driven home every offseason. Never more so, I'd say, than in 2024.   more »
