Fantasy News
Below are the current strength-of-schedule numbers. According to current win-loss numbers, the Bills, 49ers and Broncos have played the league’s easiest schedules. The Bengals, Steelers and Packers have played the league’s hardest schedules.
The numbers you see below are slightly different than what the NFL uses. The league goes with straight wins and losses. On these numbers, teams own games are removed. Otherwise, good teams tend to appear to have played easy schedules, while bad teams appear to have played harder schedules. (So when you see below that the Lions’ opponents are 113-96, that could actually be altered to 128-96 if you include Detroit’s own games).
Also, for those tracking the No. 2 draft pick race between Kansas City and St. Louis, those teams are officially tied in strength of schedule right now. (If they both finish with 2-14 records, there will be a coin flip to determine which team gets the No. 2 pick in the draft). Eliminating games that are guaranteed to produce a 1-1 split in the standings (like San Diego vs. Denver for Kansas City), it breaks out as follows:
Kansas City fans want losses by:
Oakland (counts twice), Tennessee.
St. Louis fans want losses by:
San Francisco (counts twice), Giants, Chicago.
Those are the deciding games involved. I think I’ve listed them all (all of the other wins and losses will cancel each other out). The most important games are the two involving the Bay Area teams, since they’re doubled in value (Kansas City played Oakland twice, and St. Louis played the 49ers home and away. The strength of schedule stuff, of course, becomes meaningless if Kansas City wins at Cincinnati, which is certainly possible.
