Steelers have done well with coaches

Posted Feb. 06 at 07:18 AM

One final thought on the Super Bowl:

The Steelers have had three coaches in the last 40 years - Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin. Each of those coaches has won Super Bowl titles. That's remarkable; there are only three other teams who've had over 20 percent of their coaches in the last 40 years win titles.

There are 12 teams, meanwhile, that date back to the merger in 1970 who haven't hoisted any Vince Lombardi trophies in the last 40 seasons - Falcons, Chargers, Saints, Vikings, Bengals, Eagles, Titans, Bills, Browns, Lions, Cardinals and Jets (their win came back in Super Bowl III). Those teams have gone through a combined 145 head coaches without winning a championship.

The below chart shows coaches (C), the number of those coaches who have won Super Bowls (SB) and the percentage (Pct) for each team.
