Defensive Notes
Albert Haynesworth, arguably the defensive MVP in each of the last two seasons, is going to test the open market. That's according to NFL.com's Adam Schefter, who writes about Haynesworth's decision here. Big news? You bet, both for the Titans, should they lose the franchise defensive tackle, and also the team that signs him.
Over the last two seasons, Tennessee has been an entirely different defense with Haynesworth in the lineup. With him, it's a dominant group in terms of points and yards allowed, particularly against the run. Without him, it's a far more ordinary defense (and the team has gone 1-4 in those games, although one was a meaningless week 17 contest).
Should Haynesworth change teams, don't be surprised if the Titans slip from one of the league's better defenses, both in fantasy terms and otherwise, to a below-average group, while the team that adds him makes a similar move in the opposite direction.
The numbers from the last two years are presented below.
Titans D: With Haynesworth (27 games)
Points per game: 15
Total yards per game: 296
Rushing yards per game: 85
Team Record: 22-5
Titans D: Without Haynesworth (5 games)
Points per game: 27
Total yards per game: 328
Rushing yards per game: 134
Team Record: 1-4
