Factoid
Travis Henry could be facing a season-long NFL suspension, and that would create a situation which has become nearly an annual tradition for the Denver Broncos. For the fourth straight year, Denver’s leading fantasy performer at running back will likely be a player who wasn’t even on the fantasy radar in the preseason. (And this of course isn't even counting the years that Mike Anderson and Olandis Gary came out of nowhere to briefly become fantasy stars.)
Will undrafted rookie Selvin Young be the latest performer to emerge? The uncertainty – and potential reward – is why Young is already on a fantasy roster in most leagues, and why Andre Hall, Cecil Sapp and Mike Bell may all end up with fantasy employment in the next few days.
The stats for the projected starter, and top fantasy performer, in each of Denver’s last three seasons are presented below.
Year Proj. Starter, run-rec-TD Top Performer, run-rec-TD
2004 Quentin Griffin, 311-68-3 Reuben Droughns, 1240-241-8 (backup FB)
2005 Tatum Bell, 921-104-8 Mike Anderson, 1014-212-13 (injured 2004)
2006 Tatum Bell, 1025-115-2 Mike Bell, 677-158-8 (undrafted rookie)
2007 Travis Henry, 498-52-1 ?

Having benefited from the surprise Rueban Droughns move in '04, i wouldn't be surprised to see Cecil Sapp as the next bellcow for the Denver Broncos. Shanahan was high on Sapp during Training camp cut Kyle Johnson to Move him to starting Fullback. This is relevant because it seems the Broncos like there starter to know all the blocking schemes. I would expect Sapp to serve in the "mike anderson" role and Young possiblt in the "tatum bell " roll. Hopefully it will be Sapp in the "Rueban Droughns" rol..
