Laurence Maroney says he's going to have a big year.
He spoke with Karen Guregian, who wrote a column printed in today's edition of the Boston Herald.
Maroney says he was merely held back by injuries last year.
"I’m explosive, I make big plays," says the former first-round pick. "I just have to stay on the field. Anybody seeing the second half of the (2007) season, the year we went 16-0, everybody’s seen what I can do. The last six games, the two playoff games, the Super Bowl, I feel like people know what I can do. I just have to be more consistent doing it.”
Working against Maroney is the team's depth at the position. New England also has Sammy Morris and Kevin Faulk coming back, and it signed Fred Taylor. A committee approach, it seems, is inevitable.
