I'm stacking the board right now for the kickers. A lot of parity at this position.
One thing I notice, as I play around with the numbers: There are a lot of good older kickers. If you look at the accuracy statistics for the last three years, in fact, the four best kickers are all guys who are currently at least 39 years old.
I do not think, therefore, that we need to discriminate against guys like Jason Elam and John Kasay simply because they’re getting up there in years. Both of those guys are in my top 10.
The chart below shows the 33 kickers who’ve attemped at least 50 field goals in the last three years. The nine guys on this list who are over 35 years old have averaged 87.1 percent on field goals. The nine guys under 28 have averaged 82.9 percent.
