Checking in with an update on the Fanex Draft.
I’m not complaining about my team, because I think it will be good.
I will point out, however, that Andy Richardson (one of our writers) participated in a Mock Draft earlier this week for the Lindy’s magazine, and every player that I have selected so far went later in that draft than where I have selected him.
So that’s not a good sign. It’s tough, though. You develop a corps of guys that you’re interested in selecting, and how far are you suppose to let them slide? I’m high on guys like Anthony Gonzalez, Ray Rice and Brent Celek. How far am I supposed to wait before I select them?

Overview of rules: Each team drafts 20 players. Starts QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, K, D and one flex player (RB-WR-TE). 6 points for TDs, 4 for TD passes, 1 for every 20 passing yards, 1 for every 10 run/rec yards, 1 for every reception. No free agent pickups – what you draft is what you get. No starting lineups – lineups tabulated via “best ball” methods. No head-to-head games; highest total points after 17 weeks is the winner.

It's tricky when you're picking at the end (or beginning) of each round, so there are 20 picks off the board between every other pick you make. The result often turns out that you either miss players you want, or have to take them a little early. A player you take at 10.02 might be a round too soon, but your next pick, at 11.11, is nearly two full rounds away.

You could make a case for A.Johnson over S.Smith or Boldin over A.Gonzalez, but I think they were all good picks. Your top 3 WR's have the potential to be top 10 in Receptions with Welker being the clear #1 and S.Smith possibly being the highest scoring WR in the league. Looking back would you consider a stud TE like Gonzo over a flyer like Ochostinco? You would have had a shot at a guy like C.Chambers that has the potential for similiar numbers to Chad.
