Early ninth round. I’m going with Leon Washington as my next choice. Zach Miller is actually higher on my overall value board, and I need a tight end, but I feel I’ll be able to get a good one with one of my next two choices – 10.11 or 11.02. Not as good as Miller, but somebody who’s decent.
Running back, I think, is more of a need area for my team. I spent less resources on this position than anyone in the league while stockpiling what I believe are five of the top 20 or so receivers in a league where I can start four. This is a PPR league, and I think I’ve got five who will catch 80-plus passes.
At running back, meanwhile, I got only a couple of safer-type guys who aren’t stars – Cedric Benson and LenDale White – and the high-risk choice of Ray Rice, who could be a breakout star for the Ravens. Picking up another potential contributor at this position, I think, makes sense (particularly with the talent at tailback now seeming to dry up). I believe Washington will be the best running back for the Jets this year. He’ll carry the ball a lot more this year, and he’s also a far better receiver than either Thomas Jones or Shonn Greene. Washington might catch 50 passes (huge in this format). There’s a chance he’ll make it back to the end of the 10th round, but I didn’t think the risk was worth it.
