Ian Allan
Now that I've seen all of the teams at least twice in exhibition games, I'm starting to get a feel for how I think they'll do this year.
As far as I can see, it looks like the Patriots and Steelers are the class of the AFC, with the Colts, Ravens and Chargers on the next tier.
On the NFC side, I've got the Packers, Vikings and Giants as the favorites. Not much separation between the other NFC contenders - Eagles, Falcons, Bears, Saints and Cardinals all have a good chance to finish over .500.
The numbers you see below are the ballpark win totals for each team. I looked at all 256 regular-season games and calculated the odds of each team winning in each of those games. When Carolina plays at Atlanta in week 2, for example, I gave the Falcons a 70 percent chance of winning that game - so that's .7 of a win for Atlanta and .3 of a win for the Panthers. I see the week 3 game of Indianapolis at Arizona as a 50-50 type game, so I went for a half win for each team for that one.
After looking at every game, I added up all of the wins for each team. Those numbers are shown below. Let me know where you think I’m way off.

Re Chicago: You have this team projected for nine wins but yet they are favored in very few games according to your percentages projections. Appears to be a contradiction. Having seen two Bear practices, I agree with your nine win projection. In fact, they may be a surprise team this year.

You're a lot higher on Miami than I would have anticipated. You give them the edge at home against Indianapolis (55-45) and New Orleans (60-40), plus better shots of winning at San Diego and Pittsburgh than I'd have figured. Then there's the Jets, who your percentages suggest will start 1-7, getting swept by Miami and losing at Oakland, too. Maybe it's my East Coast bias, but I see the Jets as more of a .500 type team and a little bit better this year, rookie QB and all, than Miami.

Your to low on Bal,I think they will win 12 games including a split with pit and go to the superbowl. They have the best def in football and Flacco has really improved.

One thing that jumps out is 60% for SD vs. Oak?? No way. That should be like 75% minimum.

I could be wrong on San Diego at Oakland in week 1. I just remember the Chargers being lucky to win at that venue last year. Division games can be tricky. A bad Kansas City team won at San Diego two years ago and really should have beaten the Chargers at Arrowhead last season. That was the thinking there (although I had similar thoughts with the Raiders and Broncos on an opening MNF game last year and Denver just flat-out rolled them). Miami has impressed me in both of their preseason games, particularly on defense; we'll see what they look like in their game tonight.

Rodgers is the real deal this year. He's as on fire as any QB I've seen. Now that the controversy is now in Minny and 100% of the fans are in support he seems to be a more confident QB. The team all around looks great. Capers a great addition for the D. And check the sched it starts out as easy as any in the league. Don't forget the Pack lost a lot of close games last year. Everything is pointing at a turn around season.
