Watching the preseason games, it’s apparent how much better Joe Flacco will be this year. He’ll throw the ball a lot more often, and he’ll be a lot more effective.
Compare the numbers from the two preseasons:
Completion percentage
improved from 52.2 to 65.6
Yards per attempt
improved from 4.2 to 7.7
Yards per completion
improved from 8.1 to 11.8
Passer rating
improved from 68.3 to 94.3
In Flacco’s rookie season, they treated him with kid gloves, relying heavily on the run. He was making the transition from Delaware to the NFL, so they didn’t want to ask him to do too much.
It’s clear – very clear – that Flacco will be vastly improved this season. I think he might be a top-10 quarterback in a lot of formats.

OK, then who'll be the Ravens pass catchers worth drafting? Besides Derrick Mason and Ray Rice, especially in PPR leagues.

I drafted Flaco in my redrafter league with the hope that he would make a 2nd year leap...then he went out and put up some crazy numbers against the Panthers. What I'm curious about is why the Ravens aren't mentioned as a possible landing place for Brandon Marshall. They have to be trying- you've got to believe that they've offered their 2010 first rounder. What would happen to Flaco's numbers if he was throwing to Marshall, Mason, and Heap?

I hope you're right, Ian. I drafted him as my starter somewhere in the middle rounds last night in my 12-team PPR snake last night. Schaub was my other option, but the injury risk was too much for me.
