Revised strength of schedule / tough on Giants

Posted Oct. 12 at 02:53 PM

We’re five weeks in, so a revised look at strength of schedule is in order.

The easiest remaining schedules belong to Jacksonville, Seattle and New Orleans. Already 4-0, that easy schedule could help the Saints secure home-field advantage in the NFC. On the AFC side, the Patriots could be helped by a relatively easy schedule (they’ve already gotten some of their tough ones out of the way – Broncos, Ravens, Jets).

Four playoff contenders are stuck at the other end of the spectrum – potentially hurt by hard schedules. In this group are the Giants, Eagles, Ravens and Cowboys.

I also notice that the Vikings appear to have used up the easy portion of their schedule. They’ve played the Lions, Browns and Rams. From this point going forward, Minnesota’s schedule projects to be the 7th-hardest in the league.

REMAINING DIFFICULTY OF SCHEDULE
Based on the combined win-loss records of remaining opponents for each team. Records updated through the Monday night game.
