PATRIOTS SPREAD THINGS AROUND
If Randy Moss is going to put up 12-14 TDs, he'll have to overcome New England's strong history of spreading things around. The Patriots use lots of formations with three, four and even five wide receivers, and Tom Brady is among the best at finding guys who are left uncovered. He's thrown touchdown passes to at least 11 different receivers a league-high three times. As the following chart shows, nobody else has done that twice:
MOST TDS TO DIFFERENT RECEIVERS
Year No Quarterback
2005 12 Tom Brady, N.E.
2003 12 Brad Johnson, T.B.
2006 11 Tom Brady, N.E.
2002 11 Tom Brady, N.E.
2002 11 Jake Plummer, Ariz.
1996 11 Vinny Testaverde, Balt.
1985 11 Dan Marino, Mia.
1947 11 Sammy Baugh, Wash.
