Quarterbacks who get sacked

Posted Dec. 17 at 06:37 AM

Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees. It’s not a coincidence that those guys tend to stay healthy for 16 games almost every year. It’s not that they’re tougher than other quarterbacks; they just do a better job of getting rid of the ball.

Below see the list of all quarterbacks with 200-plus pass attempts this year. Manning, Brady and Brees are all in the top 4 amoung quarterbacks. It doesn’t matter which defense you see these guys lined up against, they’re not going to give up many sacks.

At the other end, you have the quarterbacks who tend to hold onto the ball and take sacks. JaMarcus Russell, Aaron Rodgers, Matt Cassel, Ben Roethlisberger, David Garrad and Jason Campbell. These guys will tend to get sacked, and that also makes them more likely to get injured.
