Shockey, Carney won't play for Saints

Posted Dec. 19 at 08:09 AM

The Saints will have an altered receiving corps for tonight. Jeremy Shockey (toe) will not play, but Lance Moore will.

And the Cowboys have a injury development that looks even more significant. DeMarcus Ware, who left last week's game with a serious-looking neck injury, is active and expected to play. Ware is particularly imnportant because he's the team's only big-time pass-rushing threat.

Shockey's absence will result in more playing time for David Thomas at tight end. Thomas is pretty good; he's outperformed Shockey in a lot of recent games anyway.

Moore will be New Orleans' No. 4 receiver. He hasn't played since week 8 because of a high-ankle sprain.

Also for the Saints, John Carney won't play, meaning Garrett Hartley will be their kicker. For the complete list of inactives, click here.
