Nobody running backs

Posted Dec. 20 at 11:51 AM

Jerome Harrison ran for 286 yards at Kansas City, the 3rd-most by any back in league history. Michael Bush hit the Broncos for 133 yards. Jamaal Charles put up 154 against Cleveland. And Maurice Morris piled up 126 against Arizona.

It was a good week for no-name running backs. (And a good week for fantasy teams looking to pluck fill-in running backs off the waiver wire).

And these no-name type of backs have been showing up all year.

Below is the list of all running backs who’ve run for 120-plus yards in a game this year. About half of these 53 games have been produced by running backs who weren’t selected in the first two rounds of the vast majority of fantasy drafts.

Chris Johnson is the leader with 7 of these games. DeAngelo Williams has 4. But multiple under-the-radar types have done it multiple times. Harrison and Charles. Justin Forsett of Seattle. And Rashard Mendenhall, who began the season as a backup.
