Around the NFL
It's all but official. With the Browns and Buccaneers winning on Sunday, the St. Louis Rams are essentially guaranteed to hold the No. 1 pick in the draft next April.
With its win at Kansas City, Cleveland moved up to 3-11. That leaves the Rams at 1-13, a game ahead of Detroit and Tampa Bay for the No. 1 pick. But the Rams have also played a far easier schedule than either of those teams. So to lose the No. 1 pick, the Rams would have to win both of their final games -- at Arizona and at home against San Francisco.
If both the Lions and Bucs lose out to finish at 2-14, it should be Detroit picking 2nd and Tampa Bay 3rd, with strength of schedule being the tiebreaker.
A reminder on draft order: head-to-head isn't used in the tiebreaking formula. This could be to prevent teams tanking games at the end of the season. So if both Cleveland and Kansas City lose out to finish 3-13, the Browns might pick 4th (even though they just won at Arrowhead).
