Shonn Greene vs. Thomas Jones

Posted Jan. 23 at 11:46 PM

Shonn Greene has been coming on nicely for the Jets. Looking like maybe the next Michael Turner, he’s gone over 100 yards in both of their playoff games.

At the same time, however, Thomas Jones’ effectiveness has waned.

Jones is still the team’s starter, and he was very good in the regular season – running for 1,402 yards and 14 TDs. But in four of his last five games, Jones has run for under 3 yards per carry. Behind one of the league’s best offensive lines, he’s been remarkably ineffective recently.

Jones is 31; he may be starting to slow down. Greene also could be benefiting from having Jones soften up defenses.

But right now, Greene appears to be clearly the team’s best running back.

Ian In a ppr keeper ranking, who do you like better next season,Green or Mendenhal?green doesnt catch many passes but Jones finished way ahead of Mendehal this year.

I'd go with Mendenhall. He'll probably catch 30 more passes. That's essentially a 55-point headstart in a PPR league. (And I'm not saying it's a given that Greene will finish with better rushing stats -- Mendenhall should be more of a full-time player.)
