Around the NFL
The player who scored the most touchdowns in the last decade (153) is now a free agent. San Diego has released LaDainian Tomlinson.
“No matter where he chooses to continue his career, in my mind LT will always be a San Diego Charger," says team President Dean Spanos. "His legacy as one of the greatest running backs the game has ever seen will be as a Charger.”
Tomlinson was due $5 million for the 2010 season, and he's simply not worth that kind of coin. His production has slipped significantly the last two years. He averaged over 4.0 yards per carry in only one game last year, and that was the season opener against a lesser Oakland defense.
Now he'll try to latch on with a new team, but it's hard to envision any club bringing him in as their featured guy.
