As expected the Jets have released Thomas Jones. (Or rather, they will release him -- he'll be an unrestricted free agent on Friday.)
Jones had a productive season, but he's due a big roster bonus and will be 32 years old in August.
There's a chance the Jets will obtain a significant running back somewhere along the line, giving them more depth at the position. Right now, their starter is Shonn Greene. They also have Leon Washington, but he's coming off a serious injury. Their No. 3 back right now is Chauncey Washington.
