Factoid
The Browns traded for Seneca Wallace today, giving up a 2011 draft pick. Their new GM, Mike Holmgren, liked having Wallace in Seattle.
It’s definitely a fixer-upper offense that Wallace moves to. Two years in a row, the Browns have been the only team in the league that has completed fewer than 50 percent of its passes (see chart below).
Wallace almost certainly will be their No. 2 quarterback. The starter isn’t so sure. Holmgren is definitely a believer in having one established quarterback. I have heard him say multiple times, including recently, that he doesn’t like having quarterback competitions and doesn’t like teams to make quarterback changes – he wants one guy.
Whether Holmgren believes in Brady Quinn enough to make him that guy remains to be seen. Derek Anderson is a due a big bonus and will be released soon. Anderson should land as a backup somewhere.
