Defensive Notes
Looking at defenses this week. The Giants were one of the league's biggest disappointments a year ago, which led to the firing of first-year defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan and hiring of former Bills defensive coordinator and interim head coach Perry Fewell.
Fewell had served as Buffalo's defensive coordinator since 2006. Based on his track record -- and granted he had better personnel -- his defense should shore up New York's major weakness a year ago: playmaking in the secondary. Buffalo was at the opposite end of the spectrum from the Giants in terms of interceptions last year, and was one of the league's best in that category during Fewell's four-year tenure.
