Hasselbeck / Wallace: passing inside the 5

Posted Apr. 28 at 03:48 AM

How long before the Seahawks replace Matt Hasselbeck with Charlie Whitehurst? Whitehurst might not have much of a track record (he's never attempted a pass in four pro seasons), but Hasselbeck doesn't look like he'll last long.

The incumbent has had a lot of injuries. He also just hasn't been very effective.

Consider these passing stats from the last two years.

Passing inside the 5-yard line, 2008-2009

Matt Hasselbeck
6 of 25 (24%), 2 int, 2 TD

Seneca Wallace
8 of 9 (89%), 0 int, 8 TD

While Hasselbeck has been hurt by offensive line and receiver play, some of the blame, clearly, lands at his feet.
