The annual Fanex Analysis Draft is underway. For the third year in a row I've traded out of the first round.
First three picks were Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson and Maurice Jones-Drew. That put me on the clock. I probably would have taken Ray Rice (you get 1 point per reception in this format) but as is custom, I sent out trade offers to just about all of the other owners.
Pet Peeve: People who say, "this pick is available -- make us an offer." If you're serious about moving a pick, YOU make the offer. Don't waste my time, fishing for a knockout deal but really not intending to trade. I don't want to receive e-mails from somebody who supposedly wants to make a trade, but isn't interested enough that they're actually willing to put together an offer themselves.
Anyway, the guy who had the No. 1 pick, Duane Cahill, accepted my offer of pick 1.04 and my last-round choice in exchange for picks 2.12 and 3.01. So I'll be sitting in the corner for a while, then I'll have four of the eight picks at the end of the second and beginning of the third round.

It's always a little nerve-racking making these deals, but they've worked well for me in the past. I won this league in 2007 and 2008, and I finished 2nd behind Tony Holm last year. I also traded down out of the first round in the other Fanex league last season. In that one, I ended up losing in the championship game -- to the guy I traded the extra first-round pick to.
