Around the NFL
A newspaper in Ohio seems excited that Montario Hardesty could make a big impact for the Browns. Hardesty is the running back the team selected late in the second round; he ran for 1,345 yards and 14 TDs last year at Tennessee.
But The Repository (Canton’s newspaper) points out that numerous running backs selected in the second round have gone on to have successful NFL careers – including Clinton Portis, Ray Rice, Matt Forte, Maurice Jones-Drew and Corey Dillon.
Cleveland also ran the ball surprisingly well last year, particularly during the second half of the season.
Running backs selected in the first round, of course, tend to be more successful, but there’s a chance Hardesty will be a good, productive player.
