Around the NFL
Will Michael Vick's birthday party lead to him being unemployed? Depending on which report you believe, it looks that way.
Saturday morning, the Associated Press said the Eagles were strongly considering releasing the quarterback, who's being investigated for a shooting at his birthday party which reportedly occurred after he'd left -- but involved a cousin who he is prohibited from being in contact with.
According to ESPN, however, the Eagles are denying the earlier report, saying releasing Vick is not something they're discussing.
So which story is true? Clearly, even if the Eagles were strongly considering it, they wouldn't want it to be known, in hopes of perhaps dealing him for some sort of compensation (unlikely though that seems with a further NFL suspension and even a return to jail possible at this point).
For now, Vick remains an Eagle. Let's see if that's still the case a week or two from now.
