Poll: Ian's Fanex team isn't any good

Posted Jul. 06 at 06:52 AM

The picks are over in the Fanex Analysis Draft. This is the league where everyone picks 20 players and there are no moves or lineups – each team just gets its best lineup each week, using a best-ball format.

I traded down a bunch of times this year, including moving the 4th pick of the draft in exchange for the last pick of the second and the first pick of the third.

But that approach didn’t go over well with the other coaches. They’ve now posted the “grade the teams” portion of the poll, and of all the other coaches, only one thinks that I’ve put together the best opponent. A couple of others gave me an honorable mention, but I don’t have the team to beat, according to the other coaches.

There is no dominant, runaway team, according to the coaches poll. Craig Davis of fantasyfootball.com got the most votes; three call him No. 1, and he gets one other mention. The tandem of Chris Rito and Michael Nazarek gets two first-place votes, and eight other guys get at least some kind of mention, so it’s up the air who’ll win the thing – at least by this vote.

Personally, I think the team I assembled isn’t quite as good as in the past. I’ve done this league three times, and I’ve finished first twice and 2nd last year. I’ve done that by emphasizing the wide receiver position (this is a PPR format). I think that’s sunk in to the other owners, because they did a better job of selecting those good franchise-type receivers in the second round last year – meaning there wasn’t a pair of those guys left for me to take in the late second and early third this time. But I think my team has a chance to win this deal.
