Around the NFL
It's looking more and more likely that Terrell Owens will sign with Cincinnati. Jay Glazer of FOX, one of the best info guys in the business, is reporting that the Rams are no longer pursuing Owens.
Glazer just posted a blurb on his Twitter account.
The Bengals appear to be the only team seriously pursuing Owens, so they may be looking to bring him in before camp opens.
It seems strange to me. The Bengals already have Chad Ochocinco, and they signed Antonio Bryant in the offseason, who's a high-level and underrated receiver. They've got some good younger players as well, most notably Andre Caldwell and third-rounder Jordan Shipley. Caldwell caught two game-winning touchdowns in the final minutes of games last year.
Guess I blew it last week when I called Bryant a potentially underrated wide receiver. If Owens signs with Cincinnati, I don't think Bryant will even be draftable in most leagues.
With both Owens and Bryant added to Cincinnati's offense, Carson Palmer's value would be on the rise -- he'd appear to be a solid top-14 quarterback.
