Around the NFL
The Jets have made a lot of moves that appeared to work out in recent years. Trading up for Darrelle Revis, Shonn Greene and Mark Sanchez has added three key youngsters to the team's nucleus, and hiring Rex Ryan also appears to have been a good move.
But with a wave of attention as a Super Bowl contender surrounding them, they're making some curious moves lately. One of those should come as soon as today, as they're apparently preparing to bring back Laveranues Coles. It will be the veteran wideout's third stint with the Jets.
You'd like to think that this would be their most questionable signing of the week, but two days ago they added 40-year-old (in September) Mark Brunell as a backup quarterback. Brunell has started one game in the last three seasons, a dreadful week 17 performance last year where he threw for 102 yards for the soon to be Super Bowl champion Saints.
Brunell can certainly serve as a mentor to Mark Sanchez, but isn't there something to be said for having a backup quarterback that you might actually want to start if Sanchez gets hurt?
The Jets were apparently interested in Terrell Owens before he signed with Cincinnati, and since they'll be without Santonio Holmes for the first four games of the season, adding Coles might just be a short-term fix. Still, as with Brunell in New Orleans, Coles' performance as a starter in Cincinnati last year suggests he doesn't bring much to the table right now.
Adding Coles looks like just another reason to avoid anything connected with the Jets' passing game this year. His presence will only work against Braylon Edwards, Jerricho Cotchery and Dustin Keller having significant value, a situation that will only look worse when Holmes' suspension ends.
Just hope the team won't have to rely on Brunell throwing to them.

This team is a three ring circus with Rex Ryan has the head clown. Jet fans and drafters of Jet players are going to be extremely disapointed this season.

The Jets remind me so much of the 1995 Miami Dolphins, who loaded up on big-name former first-round picks to try and give Don Shula and Dan Marino another shot at the Super Bowl. They started out 4-0 before the season imploded. They finished 9-7 and got blown out in the first round of the playoffs by the Bills. Shula retired a few weeks later.

This is going to be a dangerous team they have a good D good special teams and alot of weapons on offense true Holmes is suspended for 4 games but when he comes back they will have three quality WRs and their TE ain't bad and they have RBs with good hands as well. My big question is who will be the number 1 WR there Edwards, Cotch or Holmes when he returnes
