Around the NFL
It looks like we can scratch Demaryius Thomas from the list of possible sleeper/breakout receivers for 2011. He injured his Achilles today, a setback that should sideline him until at least August. More likely, it will keep him out of any regular season game until at least October.
The story appears at the team's official website. It occurred in Georgia, where he was working out at his old stomping grounds.
Thomas showed potential during an injury-filled rookie season. In Week 2 against Seattle, he came off the bench and caught 8 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown. But lots of injuries, and it's hard to see him moving up the pecking order now after missing an entire offseason.
This injury (in my eyes) solidifies Brandon Lloyd as Denver's top receiving option for the coming season.
