Around the NFL
The NFL owners keep losing in court, but that won't stop them from continuing to fight the start of their own league year. Judge Susan Nelson denied their request for a stay to her ruling ending the lockout last night, so they'll pick up their football and bring it somewhere else.
Up next is the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals; it's not clear when that will be heard. Players and agents are demanding the league year start and free agency begin, contending the league will be in violation of Nelson's ruling if it doesn't.
But with the draft starting tonight, trades or free-agent signings before the draft almost certainly aren't going to happen. Things will be in limbo until a ruling on the appeal, if not longer.
But hey, at least the draft starts tonight.
