ASK THE EXPERTS appears weekly with answers to a new question being posted Thursday morning. How the guest experts responded when we asked them:

Which new starting quarterback has the most fantasy value the rest of the way?

K.C. PAYNE

It has to be Tim Tebow. He's not going to have the same impact as Cam Newton but I see top-10 QB upside for the rest of the season. I know that many will point out he's lost Brandon Lloyd but keep in mind he probably worked out a ton with Demaryius Thomas and Eddie Royal as they now come back from injury. He should consistently get at least 3-4 points in the ground each week and with that as the floor, there's a lot of upside there. Denver doesn't play in the strongest division either which should mean a lot of high scoring affairs.

Christian Ponder in Minnesota impressed me with his poise in his first live action. I think he could turn the Vikings passing game around fairly fast.

SAM HENDRICKS

With reference to the backup quarterbacks soon to be starters, to quote a famous movie, "the list is long, but distinguished." Recap: Carson Palmer, Tim Tebow, John Beck, Christian Ponder, Charlie Whitehurst and just for fun lets include Matt Moore who started in week 6 and A.J. Feeley who will start this week for Sam Bradford by all indications. Feeley and Whitehurst are temporary QBs, not long term starters. Ponder and Moore are about equal-good guys on bad teams. Beck and Palmer have some potential, but lack chemistry with their receiving weapons. Winner by a large margin is Tebow. Look for 2000 yards passing, 15 TDs and as many INTs. Add to that 500 yards rushing and 5 rushing TDs and you have 200 fantasy points in most standard 4 pt per pass TD leagues. If Tebow is not available (and he shouldn't be), grab Palmer since he will not be looking over his shoulder like John Beck will.

Have to believe that Tim Tebow has the best chance for fantasy relevance if only because he runs the ball so much and will score when he runs – that usually counts big in fantasy scoring. Tebow has scored on the run in every game he has started but has only had one road game in which he has played. Definitely worth watching on your bench.

For immediate fantasy relevance I think we have to look at John Beck. Shanahan seems to always put his QBs in great place to make plays, see Brian Griese and Rex Grossman. Beck should be no different..

JARED SMOLA

Tim Tebow has top-10 upside the rest of the way. He entered in Denver's last game and scored twice in less than 1 half of action. He's a major work in progress as a pocket-passer but is dangerous with his legs and just finds ways to put points on the board. Remember that this guy was fantasy's #1 QB in the final 3 weeks on 2010.

IAN ALLAN

I like Tim Tebow. He’s not a great passer, and I’m not sure he’ll ever really develop into a viable starter, but he might be the best running quarterback in the NFL. Maybe almost as many yards as Michael Vick, and he’s a lot more likely to call his own number inside the 10. That gives his value a huge boost in a lot of fantasy formats. Despite his limitations, I believe he’ll be a top-10 fantasy quarterback in some weeks.

Indeed, there are a lot of QB changes set to happen. Obviously the big news is Carson Palmer moving to Oakland. He seemed to have lost arm strength last year but reports are he has been throwing with more velocity. Call it a hunch but we suspect Palmer plays very well. He should have a new lease on life and we would imagine he is going to be excited to have a chance to play again. Oakland is playing well and there are a lot of solid offensive weapons as well in Oakland for Palmer to play with. Tim Tebow, however, is likely to have the most fantasy impact this season. Disregard practice reports on Tebow. His passes aren't always pretty and he defies football scouting paradigms but Tebow just gets it done. Having lost Brandon Lloyd hurts of course but Tebow's rushing stats will make up for it. With him in your lineup you are almost virtually guaranteed 50 rushing yards every week. We also wanted to comment on Christian Ponder. Expectations need to be tempered as he is a rookie taking over with weak passing options but we were high on Ponder in our dynasty rankings, ranking him #2 coming out of the NFL Draft and we think he can be a fair QB2. While Ponder's arm strength isn't elite, it is adequate and he's a very smart QB (Ponder already has an MBA in finance) and Ponder understands the subtle nuances of QBing like anticipating coverages and manipulating DBs with his eyes. Ponder has solid mechanics and a quick release with good accuracy, timing and touch. Ponder also played in a pro offense throughout his career at FSU.

Another puzzler, made murkier by the Raiders desperation move to totally overpay the Bengals for Carson Palmer--not firm as of this writing, but looking highly probable as Hue Jackson was Palmer's QB coach I believe. While not a Jamarcus Russell-like bust by any stretch, CP has not been nearly the same QB since his injury, plus he will have just a bit of rust on him I should think. Garrard is out of the equation due to injury. Ponder is who the Vikes should turn to, and he should be the starter this week, but I have a feeling McNabb may linger, albeit unfortunately. John Beck? No, Washington is Jekyll & Hyde, NFC East winner will probably be 9-7 or similar. Whitehurst?--Please! Painter may continue to have value if he can remain upright. So, I would vote Ponder for #2, but all in all, my #1 vote for fantasy relevance is a resounding: TE-BOW! TE-BOW! TE-BOW!

I'm inclined to say John Beck because of the talent around him, but I think Carson Palmer could surprise down the stretch. I wouldn't recommend relying on either of them as anything more than a bye week fill-in, but they should be rostered in leagues of at least 18-player squads. Owners in smaller leagues can pluck them off the wire on an as-needed basis. Palmer has better job security than Beck does, but he needs to learn the system despite being familiar with it, and he will have to build chemistry with his new teammates. Beck has less pressure on him and played well in the preseason.

LOUIS TRANQUILLI

I think the obvious choice is Tim Tebow, so I won't waste a lot of writing on him. He's first and foremost on the waiver wire wish list for his running ability alone. The guy I find very interesting and a good FF bet to make some noise is Christian Ponder of the Vikings. He can run and has a real nice arm, what makes him most interesting for FF purposes is his ability to read defenses; he was considered by some to be the most game ready QB in this draft and it showed against the Bears Sunday night. I would grab him in 2 QB leagues and sit on him as a backup/3rd QB to spot start and see if you catch lightning in a bottle.

ANDY RICHARDSON

I'm not sold on Christian Ponder, but with that running back, defense, and his own running ability, I think he'll put up decent numbers in some weeks. More significantly, I think he might help Percy Harvin and the other receivers post superior numbers to what they were getting from Donovan McNabb.

TIM SERNA

Tebow has the most Fantasy value, at least this week. First off, Tebow's making his 1st start in Florida where he's gonna be honored -- The Emotional Factor. The Broncos trade away Lloyd, making him the Best Broncos player on the field. Tebow's only played 2 quarters of football and scored 16+ fantasy points, outscoring veteran starting QBs like mine: Matt Ryan. Not to mention he's starting against a dismal and demoralized Miami Dolphin team = No Brainer. If he's available, pick him up and start him, I am. It's gonna be the TIM TEBOW show this weekend!

question should I drop james starks for m.Morris of the lions

Posted by ANDY RICHARDSON | Oct. 21 at 04:27 AM

If you want a player you can actually start and get serviceable production out of, yes. Starks is better, but he is sharing snaps on a team that doesn't run. On the flip side, a month from now Morris might not even be playing. I think it is an issue of if you need a player more now or down the road.
