Factoid
While passing yards are way up this year, it seems like quarterbacks are doing a better job of spreading things around. Otherwise, we'd see more wide receivers catching more passes.
Wes Welker has caught 116 balls, but entering the final week of the season, nobody has caught more than 87. Unless Jimmy Graham can catch 13 passes or Roddy White or Calvin Johnson can catch 15, we're going to have only one player with 100 receptions.
You would think, with teams putting up record passing yards (the NFL average will be something like 243-245 per game this year), there would be a half dozen players at least with 100 catches.
In the last 18 seasons, there have been only two other seasons with just one 100-catch receiver. Andre Johnson in 2006, and Tony Gonzalez in 2004.
Weird.

Have wide receivers' yards per catch gone up? That what it looks like to me. Of course, that could come from mostly watching my Packers play...

A tribute to Welker?
