Factoid
Here’s another interesting subplot to this weekend’s games. Who, on Monday morning, will be the record holder for yards by a tight end in a season?
Kellen Winslow holds the record right now. Not Kellen Winslow the Soldier, but the original version – 1,290 yards in 1980, working with Dan Fouts in San Diego.
But two tight ends are within range of that record. Rob Gronkowski (who’s already broken the touchdown record) is only 71 yards back, and Jimmy Graham is only 6 yards behind him.
Both of those guys are on pace to break Winslow’s record. We might even see one guy break it, then lose it to the other on a fourth-quarter reception. Both of these tight ends are in games starting at 1 p.m. Eastern on Sunday.
