Factoid
Only 15 teams ever have scored over 500 points in a season. Three of them will be involved in the upcoming postseason.
Green Bay and New Orleans finished the regular season in the top 4 all-time in scoring. New England finished 11th. (Further down are the Lions – one of fewer than 30 teams to average over 29 points per game in the last 35 years).
Note that the Patriots join the Greatest Show on Turf Rams as just the third team to go over 500 points three times – 2007, 2010 and 2011.
If two of these teams wind up in the Super Bowl, the game could be similar to what we saw yesterday out of Oregon vs. Wisconsin and Stanford against Oklahoma State.
