Shaun Alexander will become a free agent today, according to a Seattle radio host.
The Seahawks, who’ve signed Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett, have been holding off releasing Alexander because of a wrist injury that required offseason surgery. If they released him prior to him being able to pass a physical, it could potentially result in Alexander filing a grievance against the team.
Dave “Softy” Mauler of KJR 950-AM says he spoke with a member of Alexander’s family, who says the running back will take a physical for the team today. Assuming Alexander passes that physical – and he should – he’ll be released later today, giving him the ability to start hunting for a new team.
Mauler’s website, which features past interviews, can be accessed at www.kjram.com.

Shaun Alexander had a career to be proud of with Seattle. He was rewarded with lots of money. Now it is time for him to move on.
