Steve Smith drafted onto Fantasy Index team

Posted May. 17 at 08:19 PM

It occurs to me, as I’m doing this Fanex league, that there are about 38 players I like in this draft. My next pick is 41st overall – if I’m lucky, one of the few remaining guys that I would be excited about will still be there. More likely, they’ll all be grabbed just before I pick.

I just got Steve Smith with my second third-round choice. He gives me a nice one-two punch with Andre Johnson. Smith struggled last year, when the Panthers had to go with David Carr and Vinny Testaverde at quarterback, but with Jake Delhomme back, Smith should be about as good as any wide receiver. And I’ve got a running back that I like – Steven Jackson. So a good start for the Fantasy Index team.

I’ll probably make pick 4.05 late tomorrow, then I’ve got a pair of choices in the fifth round – 5.02 and 5.08.
