The Rams are looking for big things from Drew Bennett – or at least better things.
Bennett underachieved last year, not making much of an impact after signing a big free agent contract to leave Tennessee. But the Rams released Isaac Bruce, so they need Bennett to move into the starting lineup this season.
"Drew's got an opportunity now to really step up his game, and he knows that," said coach Scott Linehan, in an article appearing in today’s St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "So, the expectation is that he takes advantage of it and has a great year for us."
If Bennett can’t get it done, the Rams may already have his replacement on the roster. They drafted Donnie Avery out of the University of Houston early in the second round. Avery will need some polishing, but he’s much faster than anybody else on the St. Louis roster.
