A double dose of significant news in Tampa Bay’s backfield today.

It’s looking more likely that Earnest Graham is going to be their starting tailback, and it’s looking more likely that Cadillac Williams isn’t going to be ready.

There’s a good chance, according to an article at Tampa Bay Online that Williams will begin the season on the PUP list. He suffered a severe knee tendon injury last year that could be of the career-ruining variety.

Graham, meanwhile, has agreed to a new four-year contract worth $11 million, according to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network. Graham had sat out some workouts while hoping for a new deal; now he’ll be at camp when it opens.

The Bucs also have Warrick Dunn, who could be a change-of-pace and third-down back, and the Tampa Bay Online story also indicates the team has been very pleased with Michael Bennett. Bennett isn’t much of an inside runner, but he’s still one of the league’s fastest running backs – he could be a factor as a change-of-pace guy.
