Around the NFL
The gap between Tom Brady and Peyton Manning just got a little bigger.
Manning underwent surgery on Monday to remove an infected bursa sac from his left knee, according to Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star. The surgery is expected to sideline Manning four to six weeks, meaning he could be out of action until shortly before the team’s opener on Sept. 7.
It’s probably not a huge deal, but the injury could affect the superb timing and chemistry Manning has had with a lot of his receivers in recent years. He’s probably going to miss about a month of work with Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Anthony Gonzalez, Marvin Harrison and the guys. That missed time could translate into Manning throwing 2-4 fewer TD passes this season.
