Around the NFL
There’s been some uncertainty swirling around Kellen Winslow. He underwent another knee surgery in the offseason, he’s been grumbling about his contract, he skipped a lot of the team’s voluntary workouts in the offseason and the Browns selected another pass-catching tight end with their second pick in the draft (Martin Rucker in the fourth round).
But Winslow says he’s fine, happy and looking forward to the season, in a column appearing Saturday in the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. His knee, he says, won’t be an issue.
"I've had [so many] operations, I don't even remember what I had,” Winslow says. “The point is, I'm ready. Nothing's going to stop me from being ready for the season and stopping my dream."
And Winslow doesn’t sound like a player who’s considering walking out of training camp, though he does concede he would like to re-work his contract.
"It's not up to me; it's up to the Browns and my agent,” says Winslow. “They're talking. My job is to play football to the best of my ability. The only reason I want an extension, I want to be a Cleveland Brown for a long time.”
