LaMont Jordan is free to sign with another team. Unable to trade him, the Raiders released the veteran running back before camp opened on Friday.
The Raiders drafted Darren McFadden and have Justin Fargas coming back, so Jordan didn’t fit into their plans. The team might also get some production out of Michael Bush, who sat out his entire rookie season after breaking his leg at Louisville.
The Raiders hoped to trade Jordan, but his salary-cap number made that impossible. He’ll likely sign on with some team and compete for a backup job.
A story on Jordan’s release appears at the San Francisco Chronicle.
