Fantasy News
Our annual TD-only league, featuring 12 Fantasy Index SuperFanatic subscribers, has slogged its way through the first three rounds and into the fourth. Biggest early surprise? Quarterbacks galore: 4 in the first 13 picks. Of course, these are the guys who are projected to produce the most touchdowns this season, so even at only 4 points per TD pass, it makes sense to try to grab an elite one.
Here's another shocker: Frank Gore, third-round pick. I know Mike Martz doesn't love the running game, and there's been talk of the 49ers using a goal-line back, but there's no way I'd let Gore get very far into the second round, regardless of scoring format.
An overview of what's transpired so far:
1st round: Few believe the Brady-Moss connection was a one-year wonder, as they went No. 2 and 3 overall. Steven Jackson at 1.09 and Marion Barber at 1.11 look like nice value picks; few eyebrows would have raised if both went 3-5 spots higher.
2nd round: Five wide receivers went here, and I can't argue with any of them. To me the riskiest pick here is a Patriot yet again; Maroney didn't score much a year ago and I'm not sure things will be any different this year, with Sammy Morris healthy and LaMont Jordan in the fold.
3rd round: LenDale White and Jamal Lewis go ahead of Frank Gore. I don't agree, but they do play on better teams with better offensive lines (and more run-friendly coaching staffs), so maybe I'll be wrong. And evidently Fantasy Index's endorsement of Thomas Jones over the past few months has made an impact. I'm not as high on him as Ian is, but things should certainly be better in New York than they were a year ago.

Their teams will compete during the season in a full-bore, hands-on league with starting lineups and a free agent grab bag. (This is different from our Experts mock draft league and our Experts mock auction league. There's no prize money involved. It's just for fun and for bragging rights.)

Marion Barber will be huge this year. I have the # 8 and 9 pick and I want him and Romo.
