We have a new weapon available. Perfect for guys who want to know how rankings change if you start three wide receivers rather than two, or if TD passes or worth 6 points. Or who want an overall list that runs deeper than 50.
And, especially, perfect for those in auction leagues.
Go the main page of the website and log in, using your e-mail address and your password. Then, look at the “Your Products” section on the right-hand side of the page. One of the items there (assuming you purchased the Aug. 11 update or are a regular subscriber) is title “8/11 Custom Auction Values”.
This, through computer-programming magic, allows you to get inside my skull. It takes our current stat projections for each player (updated through Sunday night) and runs those numbers through the exact process I would use if I were competing in your salary-cap driven league.
There is some setup involved. It probably will take you 5 minutes to answer the necessary background questions I would need to know before playing in your league. First, you’ll need to answer some questions about how your league is scored – how many points for yards and TDs, etc. And then there are some questions about the setup of your auction – how many guys are being purchased at each position. Are tight ends and wide receivers separate? Stuff like that.
But once you’ve done that brief setup (and you need to do it only once), this new gizmo will give you auction values that are accurate right down to the penny. You’ll be set, in other words, to flat out crush the guys who wander into your auction without being adequately prepared.
The application has value even to those who aren’t doing auctions. Some guys are always lobbying that we do a “tier” system in ranking our players. This kind of gives you that, since the players have dollar values attached – you can see where the dropoffs in value are the most severe, and that’s completely tied in with your scoring system. And there also are people who want deeper overall lists. This should appeal to them as well. With player values going out to the penny, you’ll see at least some difference between all of the players that we would envision going over the $1.00 minimum in an auction – basically, some difference between he top two thirds of players who’ll be selected.
Even if you’re not in an auction, definitely check out this new product. I’m sure you’ll like it.
