Around the NFL
Matt Leinart threw 3 interceptions on Saturday. Looked terrible.
Kurt Warner threw more touchdowns than Tom Brady during the second half of last season. Looked great.
But Ken Whisenhunt denies that Arizona has settled on Warner as its starting quarterback.
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported on Sunday night that the Cardinals were going with Warner as their starter. He cited anonymous team sources. But Whisenhunt says the position is still being evaluated:
“It seems like Chris Mortensen is making the decision on our quarterback for our football team,” Whisenhunt says. “But nothing has changed … you don’t want to make an emotional decision based on a half of football.”
That’s all cute and fine to say, of course, but for fantasy leaguers who are drafting now – before the Cardinals make their official decision or announcement – the reasonable course of action is to assume that Warner will be the starter.
Bob McManaman has a story on the Warner-Leinart decision that appears in today’s edition of The Arizona Republic.
