Our annual TD-only league, featuring 12 Fantasy Index SuperFanatic subscribers, concluded its extended-format draft last week. The teams are now set to compete for the upcoming season -- a mere five days away.
The draft results can be seen at this link, while the starting rosters can be seen right here.
At a glance, I'm pretty fond of the teams drafted by Jeff Piehl and Phil Mittenzwei. It starts at running back, where Jeff came away with a Marion Barber-Marshawn Lynch tandem, and Phil a Adrian Peterson-Frank Gore-Larry Johnson trio (two will start). Those will be tough combos to beat on a week to week basis. Jeff's got a mercurial but dangerous wide receiver corps, as well, with Brandon Marshall, Plaxico Burress, and the man we now must refer to, reportedly, as Chad Ocho Cinco. Heath Miller at tight end, and Donovan McNabb at quarterback -- should be very good until he gets hurt. Maybe even the league's top kicker in Nate Kaeding. That's the team I'd bet on to win it all this year.
Next week we'll post responses to a Q&A sent to each owner concerning best picks, worst picks, and who is the team to beat.
Their teams will compete during the season in a full-bore, hands-on league with starting lineups and a free agent grab bag. (This is different from our Experts mock draft league and our Experts mock auction league. There's no prize money involved. It's just for fun and for bragging rights.)

That was pretty much the surprise of the draft for me as well. I imagine the thinking was that there has been some talk of the 49ers using Michael Robinson as a goal-line back, which would drive down Gore's value -- particularly in a TD-only league where scoring plays are all that matter. But I personally think that even if the 49ers do use a goal-line back (and I'm not convinced they will) Gore will still score more TDs than some of the runners selected ahead of him.
