Contest for Fantasy Index SuperFanatics and Fantasy Index Weekly subscribers.

Posted Aug. 15 at 04:40 PM

Plus: The latest developments and non-developments from Fantasy Index!

We're holding a contest to select 12 participants in our 3rd annual TD-only league. We're paying the league fees and making 12 of our subscribers famous. We've e-mailed invitations to Fantasy Index SuperFanatics and Fantasy Index Weekly subscribers. If you're one of them, then watch your e-mailbox. The draft will occur online starting next week, and we'll periodically update the results at fantasyindex.com.

Here are a few other bits of news from Fantasy Index World Headquarters:

NewsBlast delivery coming soon -- really! We have yet to re-establish e-mail delivery of the daily Fantasy Index NewsBlast, which was a casualty of our new system migration this year. Our programmer has already bet (and lost) dinner in San Francisco that the NewsBlast would be up and running by August 13. Now he says it'll be running tomorrow (August 17). My money is on August 20. As soon as it's running, those of you who signed up for e-mail delivery should begin receiving the NewsBlast directly to your e-mail.

Custom rankings problem fixed. We've fixed a problem with our custom rankings generator, which sometimes parsed defensive information incorrectly. It should be working now.

One reader asked if we could support one-half point per reception. Apparently the answer -- at least for now -- is no. Our system currently requires whole number values, and our programmer doesn't want to mess with that functionality until after the season starts. So to get rankings for a league awarding half a point per reception, double the points for all categories, and you'll get rankings that work out just the same.

I am surprised by the number of customers who don't realize that the custom rankings are accessible only to paying subscribers. We'll have to clarify that wording on the custom rankings configuration page.

Matchmaker caught in limbo. Our new web architecture is not compatible with the old Matchmaker system. We hope to have that running, but it's more of a hope -- I wouldn't bet on having it running before the season starts.

Double-login problem. Some customers have to log in twice in order to view their products and/or post a comment. We're investigating that problem, and we hope to tackle it in the next week. If you have trouble logging in from the home page, try logging in from https://store.fantasyindex.com/signin.

Please please select me for your TD only Online League. I've been a FF fanatic for 12+ years and all of those years have been with the TD only format. Hearing newbies talk about receiving yards less than 40 per game makes me sick. Our league is 100 yrds only (not combined) for 3 extra points.

Dear FFI, I am not a subscriber to either of the requirements, but if you would, please include one non-member (much like you do with a reader in your experts poll). I have been in a TD-only league since co-founding it in 1991. I have been a faithful buyer of the index since 1992 and pre-season mailings and e-mails since the mid-90's. I would LOVE the opportunity to be in this mock draft. Thank you for your time, no matter what your decision, Mike Craig Owensville Pigskins Owensville, MO mikey@fidnet.com
