Around the NFL
Joey Porter, apparently, wasn’t taking notes last year when Anthony Smith of the Steelers trashed New England.
The Patriots, who had dropped off a little in their two previous games, hammered Pittsburgh and let Smith know about it all game long – and afterward.
Now, Porter of the Dolphins (who have gone 1-17 since the start of the 2007 season) is mouthing off about how the Patriots are going to struggle with Matt Cassel at quarterback.
Says Porter, in a blog written by Tim Graham of ESPN.com:
“I just know he's not a Tom Brady. So if it's not Tom Brady, it shouldn't be that hard."
"It'll be good to go out there and get our first victory."
"You treat him (Cassel) like you treat a backup. How do you prepare for a backup? He don't get that many snaps, right? So you throw the kitchen sink at him. That's what we're going to do."
Expect to hear plenty more about Porter on Sunday – from the Patriots.
