Larry Johnson won’t play against Tennessee on Sunday, says Herman Edwards.
Johnson was charged with simple assault this week for an indicident that occurred at a nightclub in February. But Edwards says this decision isn’t related to that incident.
“Larry Johnson is not suspended, for if you know suspension he can’t be at the facility and he can’t practice. Larry practiced yesterday, he practiced today,” Edwards said at the team’s website.
The suspension … er, “deactivation” … may be related to Johnson reacting negatively when he learned the team tried to move him before Tuesday’s trade deadline.
Kansas City should rotate Kolby Smith and rookie Jamaal Charles at tailback this week. Edwards says this is a one-game deal, so Johnson should be back in the starting lineup next week.
