Colts schedule now takes a big shift

Posted Nov. 09 at 09:00 PM

If you look at strength of schedule for the 2008, one team stands out -- Indianapolis. The Colts have played the league's hardest schedule so far (based on how teams have fared against other team). And the Colts also project to play the easiest schedule over the next six weeks (again, based on how teams are currently playing.

Keep an eye on the Colts. They won't win their division, but they could be a factor in the playoffs.

STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE -- REMAINING
It appears that the Colts, Dolphins and Saints have the easiest remaining schedules, while the Lions, Giants and Steelers have the hardest schedules the rest of the way.
Indianapolis' next six opponents currently have a combined win-loss record of 15-39 -- that's the league's worst. The luckless Lions, meanwhile, have to play their next six against teams that are currently a combined 36-18.
For this chart, week 17 is ignored (since most fantasy leagues are done by that time). In addition, the Monday night game between the 49ers and Cardinals isn't included in this chart (it doesn't show as a remaining game for either team).

STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE -- SO FAR

Purely off the numbers, the Jets, 49ers and Falcons have played the easiest schedules so far, while the Colts, Bengals and Kansas City have played the hardest schedules.
This chart is based on opponents combined records against other teams during weeks 1-10 of the current NFL season. In the case of 0-9 Detroit, for example, their opponents currently are a combined 40-40 (seemingly an easy schedule), but nine of those wins have come against the Lions themselves -- in reality, that's been an easy schedule.
This chart is updated through Sunday, Nov. 9 (so it does not include the MNF game between San Francisco and Arizona).
